#How to reset smash bros 3ds how to#
The repair I was doing at the time was pretty make-or-break, and I was planning to upgrade to a New 3DS anyways if I couldn't figure out how to fix the problem, so, as a last resort, I grabbed a drill and drill bit of the proper size and just obliterated the screw. After trying a bunch of other stuff to get it out, and just making it worse in the process, it was basically impossible to unscrew normally, since the grooves in the nail head were reduced to a big, gaping circular hole with no chance of grip. Stripped one of the screws really, really badly while doing some DIY internal repairs. Wanted to check here and a few other places before going there, anyways. Warranty probably voided because it's over 5 years old and has a hole drilled through it (long story, but the hole doesn't seem to hit anything important, and the 3DS still works fine even with the hole bored through it), so, probably can't contact Nintendo about it. (Yes, I know, I'm a bit weird for caring about that number.) The Activity Log also counts these as play sessions, which is tanking my average hours-spent-playing-per-session for Smash. I've rebooted the system and the game three times now, but continue to just get a black, dead screen after the 3DS logo. It's completely unresponsive, can't go to sleep, go home, etc - only option is to hold the power button for ~5-10 seconds and wait for it to shut down. After that, I booted up the game, but, after the 3DS logo, I only got a black screen.

I haven't played in a long while, so, before I started, I downloaded the latest update for SSB4 (which took a really long time, if that helps diagnose the issue).
